Shoes are an important part of every outfit. They are the pinnacle piece that lets everyone know whether or not you have fashion swagger, or fashion failure. There are many designers out there, and some believe that the eccentric is classic. In the every day world the eccentric means that you are wearing leopard print lame, with a velvet jacket, and neon green platform pump tennis shoes. Now this sounds like an odd ensemble, but so designers in France, this was all the rage.
This season is calling for a more natural look. It is ok to incorporate animal prints, but do so sparingly, and with the hint of neutral. For instance, beige is the newest hot color. Two years ago it was gray, and last year it was red. All of these colors are acceptable because there is nothing outrageous about them. During winter months reds, grays, and blacks are very acceptable as they are considered winter colors. For summer it tends to be bright pastels, spring is light pastel, and fall is the darker oranges, browns, and yellows. Fashion has always followed the seasonal color trends, and shoes are no exception. There are some rules that are being broken, and are more than acceptable. Take into account the rule that you can’t wear white from the waste down after Labor Day. Well, this rule has been ruled passe, and white it in. Gray is a popular color during summer now because it works so well with summer hues. Neon green will always be a no-no. Even when it was popular, it should not have been.
When choosing footwear, veer away from shoes that are over the top trendy, and find something that is comfortable and fits your foot well. It won’t matter how popular it is, if you end up limping from blisters, your fashion trend was useless anyway. Look for colors that can be used across seasons, and always have the go-to’s in your closet. The black pump will be in style, the beige wedge will be acceptable for summer, and the spring slide will never out-date.
